Melwyn is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your music, podcasts, audiobooks, and listening data stay on your device.

Data Storage

All imported audio files, podcast subscriptions, playlists, bookmarks, listening history, and app settings are stored locally on your iPhone. Nothing is synced to any external server owned by Melwyn.

Network Requests

Melwyn makes network requests only when you explicitly initiate an action:

• Download from URL: connects to the URL you provide to download an audio file.
• Podcast subscriptions: fetches RSS feed XML from the podcast's hosting server to check for new episodes.
• Episode streaming & download: connects to the podcast host's server to stream or download episode audio files.
• Podcast discovery: searches the public iTunes Search API to help you find podcasts by name or category.
• Artwork download: fetches podcast cover art from URLs specified in the RSS feed.

All network requests use HTTPS. The app does not phone home, check for updates, or communicate with any Melwyn-owned server.

Podcast Tracking Transparency

Many podcast publishers use third-party analytics services that may collect your IP address when you download or stream an episode. Melwyn detects these services and shows them to you in each podcast's Privacy & Tracking section. Melwyn itself does not collect or forward any data to these services — they are embedded in the podcast's audio URLs by the publisher.

Analytics and Tracking

Melwyn does not collect any analytics, usage data, crash reports, or telemetry. There are no tracking SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no user accounts, and no sign-in. The app contains no third-party frameworks that collect data.

Notifications

Melwyn can send local push notifications when new podcast episodes are detected during background feed refresh. These notifications are generated entirely on your device — no data is sent to Apple Push Notification service (APNs) or any other server. You can disable notifications per podcast or system-wide.

Permissions

• Background Audio: allows music and podcast playback to continue when the screen is locked or you switch apps.
• Background Fetch: periodically checks your podcast subscriptions for new episodes in the background.
• Notifications: alerts you when new podcast episodes are available. Requested at runtime; you can decline.

No other permissions are requested. Melwyn does not access your microphone, camera, photo library, contacts, location, or health data.

Data Sharing

Melwyn does not share any data with third parties. When you use the OPML export feature, the file is generated locally and shared only through the iOS share sheet to a destination you choose.

Children's Privacy

Melwyn does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Since Melwyn does not collect email addresses or other contact information, we cannot notify you directly.
